You can't drive through Springfield, Illinois without making a stop at the Cozy Dog Drive-In. Founded in 1949, the establishment touts itself as the birthplace of the corn dog, and I must say that I've never eaten a corn dog that tasted sooooo good! They're hot and juicy right out of the fryer...add some french fries and a cup of ice cream, and you've got all the 5 basic food groups: meat, bread, vegetable, dairy, and oil. ;-)
