Inscription Rock 7/9/2013
Inscription Rock, the 200-foot high sandstone cliffs of El Morro, is known for the inscriptions engraved into the sandstone by travelers who have passed through the region over the centuries. I was able to carve my last name "Lyn" into a piece of sandstone with a nail given to me by the lovely folks at the National Park Service of El Morro National Monument. It's a visitor piece of sandstone to allow guests to have a hands-on experience, but it is illegal to actually engrave your name into the actual sandstone cliffs. I had such a great time that I took a picture with my new friends at the National Park Service -- Jeremiah Maybee, Lee Ferrill, and Booke Whiting. Thanks for making my experience so enjoyable!
