Bandera Volcanic Crater 7/9/2013

The Bandera Volcanic Crater is the largest volcano in the El Malpais region of Western New Mexico, with an elevation of more than 8,000 feet. The hike to the top of the lookout point is a challenge because of the sharp volcanic rocks, as well as the extreme sun and eat...but try doing it with a toddler and a dog! Technically, no dogs are allowed on the trail, but since we weren't going to leave Mu Shu behind in a hot car, the owners told us we could bring her as long as we carried Mu Shu in her portable bag. As for Logan, he either tried to run off the trail or wanted to be carried up the hill. But once we got to the top, the view was breathtaking! Going down was much easier!
